A Joint Venture between Swiss sustainable coffee start-ups in Canton Ticino

On the 29th of November 2019, Swiss Sustainable Coffee, SSC, and Café Los Andes have entered in a joint venture of collaboration in order to provide a more sustainable means of coffee production. Our main priority for 2020 is to introduce to the market the world’s first biodegradable-certified single-use coffee grounds pods. We envision our containers finding success in a market that has seen €400 million in sales with 10% predicted growth per year for the upcoming years.
The CCSP has aided this joint venture by facilitating the trade of coffee from Peru to Switzerland and later the storage of coffee in Canton Ticino.
Coming straight from its source in the Peruvian Andes, Café Los Andes coffee has the natural aroma and taste that is only found within a narrow band of altitude in the mountains, making it the perfect coffee grounds to fill SSC’s eco-friendly biodegradable coffee pods. This collaboration was a result of recent scientific reports out of the UN, EU, and other institutions
about rising global temperatures and amounts of plastics in our oceans and seas.
Another result of this joint venture, is 23,000 families in the Peruvian Andes who are in the coffee industry now have a stable source of income from their production.
Yesenia Medrano, director of business development, has confirmed that this joint venture has exceeded its first phase’s expectations and is now working diligently on its next phase of production.
